Ignite Raleigh ending up being more than an opportunity to present a new idea about fund raising with friends. It was an event that helped me make new friends and impart the 5 Bucks philosophy to hundreds of new people. One of my new friends is Dan Wilson, a co-presenter from Ignite Raleigh. He and Jim Priest are the leaders behind NCDevCon, a web developers “un-conference” scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, May 22nd & 23rd.
I was deeply honored to be asked to participate in NCDevCon as a featured charity. On Sunday morning at 9:00am there will be an hour of presentations called Pecha Kucha (Japanese for “a little Chit Chat”). The “5 Bucks is Change” initiative will be presented as one of 5 speakers. If you would like more information there will be a display set up at the event.
I am looking forward to meeting you and inspiring you to host a 5 Bucks is Change of your own.

Congratulations NCDevCon. They collected over $500 for our two featured charities. We will split the fund equally between Conservator’s Center Inc and the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure – Triangle. The generosity and enthusiasm for “5 Bucks is Change” was heart warming yesterday. I appreciate the support of Gene and Beth Bonar, who staffed the table during the whole event. I was also excited by the number of people who wanted to carry the 5 Buck idea to their Scout, Church or other group. Remember to tell us all about it and e-mail a photo!
